What is a neurological disorder?

-A neurological disorder is any disorder of the body's nervous system. This includes structural, biochemical, or electric abnormalities in the brain, spinal cord, or other nerves that make up the nervous system. When someone develops a neurological disorder, symptoms include paralysis, muscle weakness, poor coordination, loss of sensation, seizures, confusion, pain and altered levels of consciousness. The world Health Organization estimated in 2006 that neurological disorders and their direct consequences affect as many as one billion people worldwide, which is 1/6 of our population.
